I LOVE being organized, but I’m not a naturally organized person. Can you relate? I feel like I have so many things I need to keep organized in my classroom: papers, supplies, student resources, curriculum materials… the list goes on and on! So classroom organization is definitely a priority to keep things running smoothly!

Today I’m sharing some of my favorite organized spots in my classroom and the tools and supplies that help me keep them semi-organized throughout the year!

Classroom Organization: Weekly Copies and Teacher Materials

In previous years I kept all of my copies, teacher manuals, and papers at the back of the classroom next to my small group table. This year I moved everything up to the front of the classroom where I teach from and it has been a game changer!

These drawers are my FAVORITE! Not only are they fun and colorful, but they are perfect for organizing all my copies and keeping track of the papers that I use to model writing, or the student math workbooks that I use under the document camera! I typed up labels in PowerPoint to put on the outside of the drawers so I know what is in each one and it has been SO helpful in keeping things organized!

Student and Classroom Supply Bins

I created these labels for the student and classroom supply bins that I keep in the cupboards behind my whiteboards! This is where I keep all those random supplies that we use throughout the year, but that don’t need to be out in the open.

Classroom Cupboard Organization

I know I am SO lucky to have so many built in shelves and cupboards in my classroom! I have not always had that, and I definitely appreciate it! However since I have so much closed storage, I can definitely get in the habit of shoving things inside and closing the doors! I finally went through my cupboards and purged a lot of things I don’t need anymore!

In these cupboards I keep all my professional development books and binders. I also have a milk crate that is filled with examples of projects that I’ve done throughout the years. I store my construction paper on it’s side, which makes it pretty easy to grab the colors that I need without messing up the whole stack! And the plastic drawers on the bottom right side hold our class money for our class economy! I’ll save that for a later post!

Front of the Classroom Organization

My front whiteboard is in a unique situation because I have a projector screen that pulls down about a foot in front of it. The projector screen is down for most of the day, so the whiteboard is mostly hidden from students and not a useful place for writing or hanging anchor charts. However, after school I always raise the projector screen, so this space is definitely useful for me!

I have this amazing magnetic shelf on my front whiteboard where I keep our current read aloud! This makes it easy to grab before read aloud time and gives it a specific spot so I don’t set it down somewhere and forget about it! I also have my calendar up on this space to help remind me of upcoming events and student birthdays!

My teacher toolbox is one of my favorite organizational tools that I’ve used for YEARS! It keeps all of the small things I need on a daily basis (paper clips, push pins, etc.) organized and easy to grab whenever I need them!
